Itinerary

Day 1: Sandakan

Be greeted by our friendly guide upon arrival at Sandakan airport. Transfer to your hotel before spending the day free at leisure.

Sepilok Nature Resort

Day 2: Sepilok - Rainforest Discovery Center

Head over to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre in the morning. Watch a short introductory video about the centre's significant efforts, then on with a 10 minute walk through the rainforest to witness the feeding of the Orangutans before observing them over at the outdoor nursery. Thereafter, visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) and explore the nearby elevated canopy walkway, which is suspended 25 metres above ground. After sunset, go on a guided night walk in search of nocturnal animals after sunset. Return to your hotel.

Day 3: Sandakan - Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Morning at own leisure. After lunch, transfer to Sandakan jetty for 2.5 hours boat journey to the multi awards winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge along Sabah's longest river, Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife. Take an afternoon river cruise in search of wildlife and birds using a boat with hybrid system of outboard and electric motor (depending on river current). Enjoy a scrumptious dinner overlooking the riverbank followed by slide presentation and interpretation by naturalist guide. Stay overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Day 4: Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Rise and shine for the morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, join in the nature walk along the lodge's Hornbill Boardwalk with the in-house naturalist. After lunch, it will be free at leisure. In the afternoon, proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife.

Day 5: Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Spend the day free at leisure relaxing in the swimming pool or tasting the finest wine. It’s also a great chance to pick one of the optional tours available at the lodge.

Day 6: Sukau Rainforest Lodge - Lahad Datu - Borneo Rainforest Lodge

Rise early and prepare for your trip to Danum Valley. After breakfast, we journey 2 hours overland to Lahad Datu before our onward journey to the award-winning nature lodge, Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Enjoy lunch upon arrival and check-in. In the evening a slide show and explore nature trail leading to canopy walkway. If weather permits we go spotlighting to view some of the nocturnal animals.

Day 7: Borneo Rainforest Lodge

Spend the whole day exploring the forest for birds and mammals, leading up to an escarpment with ancient burial coffins. Trek to waterfall for a refreshing dip in rock pools. Return to lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, explore more trails.

Day 8: Borneo Rainforest Lodge - Transfer Out

Free at leisure until check-out. Depart back to Lahad Datu. Take the late afternoon flight back to Kota Kinabalu.

Children Discount at Borneo Rainforest Lodge:

Children at 5 and below - Tour package is FOC. However, entrance permit is chargeable at MYR 50 per child.
20% discount for children 6 to 12 years old who share a room with ONE adult ( twin-share basis ) and / or share a room with TWO adults ( triple-share basis )
Full adult rate applies to all children age 13 and above.

Note on Camera Use at Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre: For any camera with zoom lens from 100 to 400mm, video camera or other video recording equipment for personal use are chargeable at RM10.00 per unit. For any camera (fixed-lens - 400mm and above ) or any film-making equipment are chargeable at RM1,000.00 per unit. Mode of payment is cash only.

Borneo Eco Tours is moving towards a single-use plastic free environment! So, please join our movement by bringing your own refillable water bottle during your time with us. Our vans and coaches are prepared with water containers so that you can refill your bottle anytime throughout the tour.
